Do wives actually go through this?

You know how TV shows always show the woman controlling the marriage, kicking the husband to the couch, while the man knows to shut up and walk away from fights. Is this true in any way, do women really do that? My husband does. He's kicked me out of our bed after an argument and locked me out to sleep on a couch with no blanket or pillow. Luckily I found a big beach towel that night. When he buys me things such as a new couch, a new rug, new utensils, new appliances, there is always rules to go by. No eating on the new couch, no drinks on the new rug, no scratching the new utensils, no harsh cleaners, no hard banging, no bumping into the new appliances. I'm the woman and get long drawn out how-to's in the ways of cleaning and cooking, which I do both very well. I don't work due to an illness and unless I'm bringing in a income to our home, I cannot give rules, ultimatums, or do or say anything that would belittle him. Do any other wives go through this?
