Do you think Germany has got off lightly for its hand in both world wars?

I think what I'm maybe getting at is... are we too to quick to forgive Germany. Some may argue that after WW1 and the Versailles Treaty, of which there is no denying Germany were made to pay huge reparations, the world kind of went a bit lax on Germany. It wasn't long before Germany began to fail to meet the agreements of the Versaille treaty and although this is because of the economic crisis that hit Germany in the 20's, could it be argued that Britain should have put its foot down abit earlier when Germany started to gain in strength. Are people so quick to forget the millions who died in WW1 that they feel that Germany should have been let off its reperations. Certainly after WW2 and the 40 million dead and the atrocities of the Holocaust you would expect Germany to be stripped, flogged and sent sprawling to its knees. But no... within 2 years the Allies had it up and running again by pouring money into its reconstruction and befriending them as if nothing had happened.
