How do I remove box hair color?

I've been dying my hair at home for over a year now (touch-ups on roots, new colors, but always same dark hue). I'm now wanting to go back to my natural color but don't want to spend a lot of money. Besides box hair color remover, are there any at home remedies that people know of for me to strip my hair??
