I don't want show my ignorance, but what is meant by telling a girl that she looks European?

they are just using a cheesy pick up line that they think they are giving you a compliment because you're pretty. i have been told i look like everything under the sun, european, slavic, russian, italian, german,,, everything but the totally irish i am. they just say whatever. lol maybe i will marry whoever says i look Irish.
